They say Bart is about 240lbs. I think last year he was around 230 and they said in great shape. Apparently that's not necessarily conducive to winning games.
I don't care what he weighs as long as he wins. They used to say the same things about Mickey Lolich, Wells, Wynn and a hundred other pitchers. They all had great, long careers.

Cholly said that Bart is poised to have a huge year, but he says that every year.
Unfortunately, the press misunderstood and thought he said "Huge rear", and these rumors have persisted ever since.
Bart actually weighs 165 pounds.
Jaret, on the other hand, used to be a big fat pig. That was before he went on the subway diet.

wells and lolich ARE leftys,big difference. early wynn was not fat and he was not afraid to pitch inside (unlike colon).colon is F.A.T. and worse out of shape.guys who last (ryan and carlton and drysdale and feller and etc.)were always in shape to pitch.

Add Clemens to your list of guys who last and are always in shape to pitch. Bart could learn a lot from the Rocket: probably more from his mental approach to the game.

It isn't the weight that is directly the issue. When Bart showed up last year weighing less, we took it as a sign that he was more serious and ready to make the last step to 'ace'.
Why he doesn't pound that heater under the hitters hands more often is a mystery. Is Kaiser missing something here? What could possibly be his motivation?
Not developing another off speed pitch because you are lazy is at least understandable. Not forgivable, but idleness and sloth are two of Kaiser's favorite past times. Kaiser can relate. So can the rest of you who choose to talk baseball on the internet instead of working
)
So WHY isn't Bart shooting that fastball under their chins? Scared to hit them? Afraid of retaliation? It doesn't make sense.

thinner last spring????this was propaganda out of the front office,the colon i saw on t.v. was NOT thinner.i'm thinking they wanted us to not get on him about his weight or they couldn't or wouldn't do anything about it.coddling didn't work with belle nor ramirez and it will not work with colon.he will be an ace when he wants it enough to get in shape.
